In October 2012, KZNPPHC partnered with DBSA to train 200 Pharmacy Assistants over a period of three years. Eighty (80) of the 200 Basic Pharmacy Assistants will proceed to Learner Post-Basic Level.

This skill is regarded as scarce in the country. The project aims to provide unemployed youth with skills which they can use to obtain employment.

The Pharmacy Assistant Training Project is part of the Government initiative to address unemployment in the country. DBSA supports this job creation initiatives whereby both parties contribute financially towards the implementation of the project. This is done through match funding.

This project is supported by the Department of Health, Pharmaceutical Services and the Netcare Group who have availed their Pharmacies for learner placement.
