Short CV of Faiez Abrahams
Faiez Abrahams is a Social Worker in private practice in Cape Town. He graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 1993. He also holds two other degrees in Social Work, B.Soc.Sc (Hons) UCT Clinical completed in 1997 and a HonsBA (Stell) in Social Work Admin completed in 2005. He is currently doing his MA (Social Work) at Stellenbosch of which his topic is: The Need for Marketing in Social Work Profession Social workers. He worked as a Social worker in various social work settings i.e. Dept of Correctional Services, City of Cape Town (Training Section), Telkom SA Ltd in Employee Assistance & Wellness, as well as Dept of Social Development prior to entering into private practice in 1999. He is registered as a member of SACSSP and SAASWIPP. Faiez is currently serving as Chairperson of the Western Cape Division of SAASWIPP as well as being elected National Chairperson of SAASWIPP in 2013.
He has also been involved in the establishment of the Mitchell’s Plain Drug Action Committee now known as Substance Abuse Forums that are now formalized into the National Substance abuse Policy of Dept. of Social Development. He has presented seminars and workshops on Marketing your Private Practice successfully as well as the Business side of how to run your Practice. He loves doing clinical work and supervising clinical casework. He has also been facilitating trauma debriefing and training for major companies in the Western Cape. He serves an affiliate for major EAP & Wellness companies and has established The Way Up (Pty) Ltd that will serve SMME in the area of Wellness, VCT Testing and Employee Assistance programmes. “Your HEALTH is your WEALTH”
